Matcha Mate Mojito

Shake up a refreshing mojito with a twist! Our Organic Matcha Mate adds flavors of yerba mate with a hint of green tea and a bright undertone for a drink that looks as irresistibly fresh as it tastes. Muddled with fresh mint, lime, and a touch of simple syrup to balance out the tartness, we’ve found our perfect drink for summer. In addition, the smooth flavor of our Organic Matcha Mate makes this a great virgin mojito too—just omit the rum.
Makes one 16 oz drink.
- 1 tea bag Stash Organic Matcha Mate
- 4 ounces hot water; we recommend heating to 170-180 °F
- 1 lime
- 7-8 mint leaves
- 3 tablespoons simple syrup
- 1¼ shot of white rum (a little less than 2 ounces)
- club soda or sparkling water
Steep tea in hot water for 2-3 minutes. Remove tea bag and let cool. Gently roll lime to soften juices. Cut off ends of lime, slice a half-inch round, then quarter. Place mint sprig in your hand and press firmly between your hands to release the flavor.
Into a cocktail shaker, add lime slices, mint, and simple syrup. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently muddle. Add the cooled tea and rum (if using), and fill shaker with ice until three-quarters full. Put lid on and shake.
Pour the shaken drink into a glass, along with the ice, mint, and muddled limes. Top off with club soda and stir gently. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and serve.
