The process of how herbal tea is created is a fascinating journey from the garden to your cup, involving the careful selection and preservation of botanicals. Unlike traditional teas derived from a single plant, a great herbal tea is technically a tisane, made by infusing various plant parts such as dried fruits, flowers, barks, seeds, and roots in hot water. This meticulous crafting process ensures that each blend maintains its aromatic profile while remaining a naturally caffeine-free herbal tea.
The creation of these flavorful infusions generally follows four essential steps:
- Sourcing and Harvesting: High-quality ingredients like chamomile flowers, peppermint leaves, or hibiscus petals are harvested at their peak potency to ensure maximum flavor and wellness benefits.
- Expert Blending: Master blenders combine different herbs to create complex herbal tea blends. They balance "top notes" (like citrus), "middle notes" (like ginger), and "base notes" (like rooibos) to produce a harmonious taste.
- Sifting and Packaging: The dried ingredients are cut or crushed to specific sizes to ensure an even infusion rate, then packaged in airtight containers or tea bags to preserve freshness.
