Product Details

For our Irish breakfast tea, we use high quality, full bodied, robust Assam teas. The resulting blend is a dark brown tippy leaf that brews up a deep red liquor that is hearty, malty and rich in flavor. This tea is delicious with milk and sugar.

The Irish drink their tea brewed very strong. Irish Breakfast, with its robust flavor, is usually enjoyed only in the morning (except for the Irish who drink it all day). Usually it is blended with an Assam tea base. Assam is a district in northeastern India that lies on the Indian-Burmese border. It produces more black tea than any other area on earth, with the probable exception of a few places in China. Assam's tea gardens cover some four hundred thousand acres of verdant rolling plains on both sides of the mighty Brahmaputra River. Assam is proof that not all fine quality tea has to be high grown.

A Tea Cupboard Standard

I'm the first to admit I'm not a morning person, and as such, if I have to be up and functional, a good strong cup of tea is just the thing to help that along. This tea is perfect for that, especially brewed "strong enough to knock over large livestock", as a friend says. It also makes a wonderful accompaniment to an afternoon snack of homemade potato bread and a nice sharp cheddar cheese.

This is my go to morning tea (loose leaf). I drink this slightly sweetened and it is wonderful. I also do two brews per teaspoon of loose leaf tea. The first brew I time at 2 minutes, the second I do not time and let sit longer.

I really enjoy the robust and hearty flavor of Irish Breakfast Tea (loose leaf). It warms the heart and quickens the mind in the morning and refreshes and rejuvenates in the afternoon. When I reach for a black tea, Irish Breakfast is always my first choice.
