A rich and full-bodied liquor distinguishes our Doomni Estate Golden-Tipped Assam. Like all fine Assams, it features a unique and hearty maltiness. This is an excellent tea to drink in the morning. The flavor is very smooth, slightly sweet and lacks any astringency. Try it with a bit of milk for a different experience.
Assam is a district in northeastern India that lies on the Indian-Burmese border. The upper Assam valley is the largest tea-growing area in the world and contains over 2000 tea gardens that span both sides of the mighty Brahmaputra River. The climate, soil, and genetic make-up of this native variety of tea plants give Assam teas their characteristic full-bodied liquor and hearty flavor. All of the gardens in the Assam region are virtually on the same plain with an altitude of approximately 500 feet. This is proof that not all fine quality tea has to be high-grown.
