For years and years I've done like so many other folks -- you get the tea bag into the "bowl" of a teaspoon and then wrap the string around it to squeeze the liquid out of it. It's a much-less-than-perfect way to do it because you can never get all of the liquid out and you will likely get your fingers wet (or worse, burned) in the process because you end up pushing the paper tag (from the end of the string) against the bag. When I saw this little gadget on the Stash Tea site I instantly recognized it as the solution I needed to make tea drinking easier. In fact, I bought two of them. Such a great item! A bonus is that there is a teeny little notch on both sides of the handle, just below the circular part -- it's perfect for using the tea tong to hold a buoyant tea bag under the water because the notches assist in holding the tea tong in place so it doesn't go kerplunk into your tea cup/mug. Just last night my husband, as he was squeezing his tea bag with the tea tong, looked at me and said, "this is one of the best things you've ever bought." And I agree.
