Chashaku Matcha Scoop
The chashaku is a small bamboo ladle designed to scoop matcha powder.
In preparing Japanese matcha in the traditional fashion, the chashaku scoops matcha from the natsume (caddy) into a mesh sieve, held above a bowl. The sieve will sift the matcha and eliminate any lumps.
The next step is to add water and use a chasen (bamboo whisk) to quickly whisk the tea into a froth. Use two scoops of matcha per 2 ounces of water when making traditional hot matcha.
