The day I got this tea, I decided to compare it to a cup of the milk oolong I bought it to replace (bought at Sun's Organic Garden in NYC, not sure of the specific type).
The milk oolong I had was, in my experience, pretty typical- buttery and mellow, distinctly sweet, with a delicate floral aroma. The Stash oolong was very astringent by comparison, with much less sweetness, but a very pleasant scent. The beads of tea were especially lush, juicy and green.
I'm still going to drink this, because it has the kind of light, warm flavor I look for in a good oolong, but it doesn't fit the specific niche in my tea collection I was hoping it would; the Magnolia Oolong, which I bought at the same time, is pretty far from being a milk oolong, but is much closer to that balance of mellow, nutty sweetness and light aroma that I was hoping for.
Had this years ago in Chicago's Chinatown at a friend's house. Was not able to get it since then. Great morning cup. Can get more than one infusion. Note it does NOT taste like milk. It has a definite milk fragrance.
My husband loves this tea. Has a great taste.
Maybe my favorite tea, this has a unique flavor. It really tastes like a good black tea with some cream.
After trying Republic of Tea's milk oolong, this kind of falls flat. Unlike, the ROT's, it's not creamy or milk-scented, i thought the leaves would be more
prominent in taste, but it's not. The ROT is amazingly teabags, not leaves & it was $6 cheaper. Oh well, I'll have to try some other oolong & finish this.
This tea is well described on the Stash site. It does, indeed, have a fragrance of fresh milk and a creamy finish in the cup. It is a very delicate tea and quite soothing.
