- Milk frothing pitcher
- Stainless steel tablespoon
- Snifter glass for serving
- 2 tea bags Stash Chai Spice (can substitute with Ginger Fire Chai)
- 5 oz boiling water
- 4 oz whole milk or milk substitute
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ¾ oz spiced rum
- 1¼ oz hazelnut liqueur (such as Frangelico)
- Ground cinnamon and/or whole cinnamon stick for garnish
Makes one 10 oz drink
Steep two bags of Stash Chai Spice in 5 ounces of boiling water and pour the steeped tea into a frothing pitcher. Add 4 ounces of milk. Add 1 tablespoon of honey (spoon and all) to the pitcher and steam until frothy, taking care not to burn the milk.*
Add to a snifter glass ¾ oz spiced rum and 1¼ oz hazelnut liqueur. Top with the steamed, sweetened chai, holding back the foam with the spoon until the last moment to make sure you get a creamy top. Stir slightly and garnish with ground cinnamon. Add a cinnamon stick if desired.
*Note: If you don’t have a steamer, you can froth 4 ounces of milk separately and add it to the steeped chai tea that has been sweetened with the honey, reserving some foam for the top. Add the spiced rum and hazelnut liqueur to the snifter glass and top with the chai tea mixture. Top with foam and garnish.
