In the spring the horns are uncovered and are used to make bio-dynamic preparations.  These are sprayed on freshly cultivated fields to stimulate soil life.  A horn-silica preparation, similarly made during  the summer is used to enhance the photosynthetic activity of plants in the harvesting phase.
