From Hunan Yiyang Bamboo Sea garden, this fragrant tea is 100% buds. Fresh taste and a clear, bright cup, delicately flavorful with a touch of smokiness.
Zhufeng Green tea is a famous Chinese tea with a long history and rich tradition. Select fresh, big green buds is key to producing this tea. The tea is processed by hand in a short time to keep its green color for both appearance and cup color.
As the production season is short and labor intensive, quantity is limited and the price is high. In China this tea is usually given as a gift to show respect to elders and close friends. Similarly at state banquets this tea is served to express a warm welcome to honored quests and foreign leaders.
Zhufeng Green tea is produced in the Hunan Province of China, made from tea buds grown among bamboo plants. The Yanglinao Estate, which produces our Zhufeng Green tea, is at an elevation of 2500 feet.
A pound of Zhufeng Green tea contains about 25,000 buds, each snipped off individually by skilled fingers. Once the tea leaves are collected and dried, they are carefully hand separated. The leaves are not rolled but left in their natural straight, flat shape to exhibit their beautiful green and white color and fuzzy texture.
Zhufeng Green tea is characterized by a strong leaf bud with a white fuzzy texture similar to bamboo, fragrant aroma, a clear and bright pale green liquor, and fresh taste.
