Deep green hand-twisted leaves produce a sophisticated full-bodied cup with flavor notes that grow more dramatic with each sip. Complex and rewarding.
Emerald Goddess is made from the leaves of the Ti Kwan Yin variety and is from the Fujian Province of China. The tea farmers believe that their tea plants are specially blessed and gifted by the Lady Buddha (Kwan Yin), hence the name of the tea.
Emerald Goddess is very popular in southern China, where the ritual pottery Gongfu tea set is used. When using the clay Gongfu tea set, the thimble-sized tea cups, teapot and tea leaves are first rinsed with hot water to purify them before steeping.
The heavy rolling process creates this tea's unique leaf appearance. The dark green leaves are rolled into an unusual curled shape which unfolds during infusion to yield magnificent large, thick, weighty leaves. Emerald Goddess possesses a wonderful orchid-like aroma with full body and lingering flavor. It retains its full flavor even with its second and third infusions and is good for sipping anytime of day.
