January 2, 2007 - For Immediate Release
The Teacup Lake Nordic Club invites the public to their annual free Cross Country Ski Clinic and Tea Party on Sunday, January 7, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hot tea will be donated by Tigard-based Stash Tea, sponsor of the Teacup Lake Youth Nordic Team.
Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. with free lessons provided by experienced Teacup Lake members who volunteer their time during this event.
Lessons are scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the tea party with free tea and cookies will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the club's heated day use cabin.
A $10 donation for the lessons is appreciated from non-Teacup Lake members. Participants are asked to bring their own skis, boots, and poles. Visit www.teacupnordic.org for more information.
"It's a natural fit for Stash Tea to support Teacup Lake," says Dorothy Arnold, the tea company's marketing vice president. "What better way to end a great day of cross country skiing than with a cup of hot Stash tea."
In appreciation of Stash Tea's support, the club renamed one of the trails the "Stash Teatime Trail." Club members voluntarily maintain the 12 miles of groomed trails at least three times weekly.
"We're really excited about Stash Tea's support of our club and the youth team," says Paul Blackburn of Hood River and the Teacup Lake board president. "Their support enables us to help more kids learn about the fun of cross country skiing. Stash Tea also redesigned our trail maps which are really helpful to new Teacup Lake skiers and to our current members as well."
Teacup Lake, located on Highway 35, one mile north of Mt. Hood Meadows Road or 30 miles south of Hood River, is operated by the Teacup Lake chapter of the Oregon Nordic Club, under a volunteer agreement with the Mt. Hood National Forest. Donations and membership fees fund the operations. A Sno-Park permit is required.
