Interview with the Innkeepers

How would you describe your bed and breakfast?

What types of vacationers is your bed and breakfast perfect for?
For those who wish a relaxing getaway! Park your car and stroll up and down Washington Avenue; the relaxing getaway will spark your sense of history, allow you to spend quality time with your partner.

What is special about your inn? Is there a story behind it?
The Washington House Inn was Cedarburg’s first inn, built in 1846 on the present site. In 1866, the original structure was replaced by the present Victorian Cream City Brick building. The Inn existed as a hotel until the 1920s, when it was converted into offices and apartments. In 1983, the Inn was renovated and restored to its original use as an Inn. We are proudly listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

What is within walking distance of your inn?
Unique shops, art galleries, historical buildings, the Interurban Bike Trail, wonderful coffee houses and restaurants.

What type of breakfast do you serve?
We offer an expanded continental breakfast that offers fresh baked goods, a hot entrée, artisan breads for toasting, fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and an assortment including fresh squeezed orange juice. Many of our baked goods feature turn-of-the-century recipes from local residents. We have also received awards for two of our scone recipes, Cedarburg Scones and Cherry Pecan Scones.

Are there any special events held in your area?
We have five local festivals held each year, wonderful music and art venues. (link to Cedarburg.org)

What is the best time of year to visit?
Any time! We are open all year and the city strives to keep activities that will appeal to visitors. As our guest tell us: "There is always something to do in Cedarburg."

Will guests be able to meet the innkeeper?
