Product Details

For our Holiday Chai interpretation of this classic Indian drink, we have blended premium black teas with an exotic mélange of spices, including nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, clove and cardamom. Natural flavors of gingerbread and rum give this chai a unique twist. The brewed tea has a spicy-sweet gingerbread aroma, with a flavor that is medium-bodied. This tea is excellent plain or with milk (regular or evaporated) and sugar.

Some of the finest black tea in the world comes from India, the world's leading producer of tea. Included in these teas are the robust Assams, muscatel Darjeelings and well-balanced Nilgiris. However, most tea consumed in India is not enjoyed for its subtle flavor nuances, but instead is blended with sweet and pungent spices to make chai.

Chai is usually brewed very strong, often concentrated, with lots of sugar and milk. Traditional Indian chai combines rich black tea that is boiled in milk with local spices such as cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and occasionally black peppercorns, ginger, and red chilies. The drink is then sweetened with sugar.

wow! we tried this tea first in the bag form and then purchased the loose tea. the loose really has much more flavor with a stronger vanilla/jamaican rum flavor. an excellent tea both ways but i think the loose will be one of our favorites for special and everyday use.

I didn't care for this at first but found that it makes great tea jelly. I use the recipe from Stash but make it with apple rather than grape juice and have gotten tons of compliments on it.

Holiday Chai Black Tea ROX!

Stash Holiday Chai Tea is turning me into a chai junkie (and I mean that only in the fondest and most positive terms). I've enjoyed various chai over the years, and thought the Stash Double Spice Chai Tea was the best I'd found UNTIL I discovered Holiday Spice Chai. HSC has a different flavor to is which is unique (and addicting!). I was in a panic after the holidays last year, thinking I wouldn't be able to order it until next Nov/Dec. I was prepared to buy enough to hold me over until then! I was thrilled to learn that Stash sells this year-round. Do give it a try, it's not just for the holidays (and maybe a reconsideration of the name is in order to help promote year-round use?) Well done, Stash Tea!

I got this in a chai sampler and did not expect to enjoy this particular blend. The addition of 'Jamacian rum' flavour made me hesitate; I imagined the reek of articial rum flavouring in the baking section of a supermarket. But Stash's Jamaican rum flavouring adds a smoothness, almost a creamy mouth-feel (I sip black tea plain) that balances any potential bitteress from the tea. Soothing. Very smooth. I admit, I'd love to try a double-spice version of the Holiday Chai.

Lacking Something

I'm a huge fan of Stash Tea's Chai so I thought I'd give this a try being that it is the holidays and all. However, I was very disappointed with this version and found it to be lacking a lot of the delicious flavors that the normal Chai tea had. If anything, I would think a Holiday Chai would have more flavor, more spices, more sweetness. I tried adding sugar and milk and vanilla, still lacking... I was very impressed with the Kashmiri Chai Green Tea, however, and will be sticking to that along with the original Stash Chai.

I first tried this tea in the bag variety as part of a sample set. I fell in love with it and purchased the loose variety in a larger quantity. It is one of my very favorite teas, and not just during the holidays! While it is delicious as recommended with milk and sugar (I make a sweetener mix of powdered milk, powdered creamer, and sugar), it is also just as delicious with just a little demerara sugar if you prefer it not quite as rich. The aroma is wonderful, spicy, and reminiscent of all things great about the holiday season. I love this tea year-round!
