Product Details
Flowery Pekoe White is a light, delicate tea comprised entirely of single buds. The surface of the bud is covered with delicate hairs, giving the tea a velvety texture comparable to the petals of the edelweiss flower. The taste of this tea is both subtle and unique in its floral notes.
White tea is a very rare, expensive tea that is mostly produced in China, mainly in the Fujian province, which is famous for its prized white teas. Production is extremely limited, so it is often difficult to obtain. White tea comes from a rare strain of the tea plant and is only harvested during a few days in spring. Legend tells us that in the days of the early Chinese emperors, only virgins wearing white silk gloves were allowed to pluck the budsets that would become white tea. Once harvested, white tea is not oxidized or rolled, but simply withered and dried by oven or sun.
