Product Details

Our interpretation of this classic Indian drink blends rich, flavorful Indian black teas with cinnamon, clove, ginger and cardamom. The brewed tea is very aromatic, with a flavor that is slightly sweet, strong, and penetrating, with lingering notes of almond. This tea is excellent plain or with milk (regular or evaporated) and sweetener. It is exceptional any time of day-as a rich morning cup, an enjoyable dessert tea, or as a special treat.

Some of the finest black tea in the world comes from India, the world's leading producer of tea. Included in these teas are the robust Assams, muscatel Darjeelings and well-balanced Nilgiris. However, most tea consumed in India is not enjoyed for its subtle flavor nuances, but instead is blended with sweet and pungent spices to make chai.

Chai is usually brewed very strong, often concentrated, with lots of sugar and milk. Traditional Indian chai combines rich black tea that is boiled in milk with local spices such as cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and occasionally black peppercorns, ginger, and red chilies. The drink is then sweetened with sugar.

Note: The 1000 ct tea bags are packaged loose in a box.

  • Ingredients (loose): blended black teas, cinnamon, clove, ginger root, natural clove flavor, cardamom oil, natural cinnamon flavor
  • Ingredients (tea bag): blended black teas, cinnamon, ginger root, allspice, natural cinnamon flavor, clove bud oil, cardamom oil
  • Steeping Instructions: 3-5 minutes at 190-209 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Caffeinated: Yes

Stash Chai Spice

I love this tea, and in many, many ways. the first time I ever had this was at crazy mocha & I got a chai latte, and Stash's Chai Spice was the tea used, so I just had to have it at home. I must also say that, before I tried this, I was an avid Twinings drinker, however, I like Stash's Chai Spice over Twinings'.
so, how I make my chai latte at home is pretty much the same as at crazy mocha; I just use:
1. Stash Chai Spice
2. 2 shots of espresso
3. 1tbsp. of splenda and
4. 1-2tbsps. of either heavy cream, almond milk or half & half.
it's also delicious by itself or just w/ cream.

I started out by drinking Starbucks iced Chai and I loved it, but it was getting really expensive. So i started trying out different chai teas and found Stash. I also really like the vanilla chai and the decaf for when i'm trying to get to sleep and the double for when I make iced chai. My recipe for the perfect latte is a mug of tea with a splash of creamer and 2 teaspoons of brown sugar (I've also made it with regular sugar and its just as good, but i like the sweetness in my iced chai)

I really like the fact that the black tea shines through and this is a very nice tea that I would purchase again. However, I would like a little stronger spice taste. Perhaps I need to use 2 bags or use the double spice chai. In any event it is a very nice winter tea.

This is by far the best chai I have had with the only exception being chai made from scratch at one of my local eateries. It is spicey and very soothing. My preference is with a little honey and some steamed milk.

Stash Chai Spice Black Tea

If you'd asked me the day before yesterday, I'd have given this tea 5 stars. My husband and I drink it daily and buy 3 boxes at a time. However, I noticed when I opened the first new box yesterday that they changed the recipe. (I still had an old box and compared the ingredient lists.) It's not as good. I'll be returning the other two boxes and will try to find a new favorite.

Sublime in flavor and aroma

From the perspective of a non-expert, Stash's chai spice black tea is absolutely delicious. Beautifully spicy and aromatic, but balanced enough that the flavor of the black tea comes through.

It seems that sweetened condensed milk is a popular accompaniment for this tea, but I can't speak on the merits of such a method. I've always used a good dose of milk and sugar, in traditional chai fashion.

This chai is excellent regardless of selected additions and complements, though. Pair with it whatever you may, you will nevertheless be imbibing a fantastic tea.

I wish I were an eloquent writer, so that I could profess my love for this tea in a manner as to make you fall for it too. Alas, I am not that person.

This tea is so spicy and flavorful, and it reminds me of the Russian Tea Mix my mother used to mix up and package for our friends and family at Christmastime. All you need to do is use half a cup of hot water with the tea, once the tea is strong enough, add half a cup of orange juice. Oh momma is this stuff addictive!

I have even juiced a whole orange, with pulp into a huge glass with this tea and it was amazing! I posted that I did so on Facebook and had an overwhelming response to friends wanting to try it after my suggestion.

It really is a versatile tea! I have also used it to flavor the water before making spice cake and muffins and everyone wants to know what I did special to them!

Love love love this tea!!!

Here's how to make a Chai tea BETTER and MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE than the coffeehouse (which can cost $5+):

Heat 8 oz. water until it is boiling
Steep tea for 3-5 minutes
Add 3 Tablespoons of sugar
Add a splash of Half & Half
Stir and ENJOY!

Mmmmmm!!!!!!
