Product Details

Named after the central African country where it is grown, this tea is produced by the orthodox method, at an elevation of approximately 2000 meters in the northern part of the country. Rwanda is landlocked but is noted for its lakes. Although close to the equator, the country has a temperate climate due to its high elevation. Rwanda is known for its rare mountain gorillas, made famous by conservationist Dian Fossey and the movie, Gorillas in the Mist. This tea brews a clear green cup with medium body and astringency. It is a very fresh tasting with characteristic green tea vegetal flavor. For best flavor, brew for 2-4 minutes at 170-190 degrees.

Bold flavor for a green tea

About to place a second order. I was pleasantly surprised at the bold flavor of this green. I shared it with family members who also loved it. Because of the boldness, I use a little less tea when brewing vs. other greens.

One of my favourites

This isn't quite like other green teas I have tried. It may take some getting used to, but I find that this has a bit more of a "bite" than other green teas and I really like it. Whereas a nice Japanese Sencha is smoother and nice to relax with, this is the green tea if you want a bit of a kick and need to get things done. I rarely crave specific teas but sometimes no tea will do other than a cup of Rwanda green.

Afternoon habit

Rwandan Green is my afternoon tea habit. It tastes a bit grassy - I usually brew 2 cups each afternoon at work. It makes me think of 2 Rwandan girls I sponsor through Compassion International.
