Product Details

Hibiscus herbal tea is a universal beverage consumed both hot and cold throughout the world. It is known as Bissap in West Africa where it is the national drink of Senegal, Karkady in the Middle East and flor de Jamaica in Latin America. Some refer to it as roselle, a common name for the hibiscus flower. Even the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt would enjoy a cup to refresh themselves from the desert heat. Today, hibiscus tea is still a popular beverage and can be found in cafes from Cairo to Panama, where it's traditionally enjoyed as a Christmas-time beverage. Our Egyptian Hibiscus tea brews a deep crimson-color in the cup and has a full bodied, tangy taste- similar to cranberry. Adding a touch of sugar brings out the fruity flavor notes of this delicious herbal tea. Brew at below boiling for 2-4 minutes. Great as an iced tea. Naturally caffeine free. 50g package.

Healthy but lacks dimension

I bought this tea because of its health benefits not the taste. I would equate the taste to an unsweetened cranberry and pomegranate juice. It isn't that bad but it is tart so it will require a little sweetener. I take it as a concentrated shot instead of something that I would sip on.

Also, it doesn't require boiling water as it will render in cold water. However, I do use hot water but do not steep very long (1-2 mins).
