Product Details

A Stash Tea best seller and long-time customer favorite! Earl Grey is black tea scented with bergamot, an oil extracted from a pear-shaped Mediterranean citrus about the size of an orange. Earl Grey brews up a beautiful amber cup with a distinctive flavor and lightly fragrant aroma.

Earl Grey is a versatile tea, at its best in the afternoon or after dinner. Delicious and flavorful plain, it may also be served with sugar and milk. Plus, it makes a wonderful, refreshing iced tea.

The tea leaves in Earl Grey are usually a blend of Chinese black or Indian Darjeeling teas. Stash uses superior grades of Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka and black teas from China for our Earl Grey. We strive for a distinctive tea flavor that is not overwhelmed by the pungent citrus, and we use only 100% pure bergamot oil, not a mixture.

Story has it that in 1830 Englishman Charles Earl Grey (the second Earl Grey, 1764-1845) was on a diplomatic mission to China, when a mandarin presented him with the recipe for making this distinctive tea. Now it is the most famous scented tea in the Western world.

Note: The 1000 ct tea bags are packaged loose in a box.

loose leaf bag tea

I bought your black tea from Wegmans this past week and while it is very tasty every bag that I have used might as well have been loose leaf tea. Every cup that I have made ends up with half of the tea leaves in the cup. It does not matter how good the tea tastes it is not worth this hassle for bag tea.

I have traveled extensively in Europe and Asia in the last 8 years and tasted teas from all over the world. I continue to return to Stash's Earl Grey Black Tea as my personal standard that others are measured by, and most of them fall short of the mark you set. Thank you for continuing to provide a quality product.

When I first stepped into a coffee shop and asked what tea was good this was the one that was referred to me. I drank it just like that and it was good. Then I ordered another and added one packet of sugar and it was that much better. Now I have found that in order to get the full effect of this téa is to put one sugar and a lemon wedge. This is and still is one of my favorite tea's. I just had two rounds while studying.
