Product Details

From the Dunsandle Tea Estate in southern India. A flavorful cup lighter than the Assams from northern India, with a hint of sweetness. The tea brews up a nice golden cup, very smooth and it tastes great on its own without milk or sugar. The flavor can be described as a cross between a fine Darjeeling and a sweet Assam, combining the best flavor notes of those two varieties. It is a superb afternoon tea and goes well with rice or pasta dishes.

Tea plants flourish in southern India due to the warm moist climate and year-round growing season. Many plain teas are produced in this area and not many people expect to find top quality teas there. However, the Dunsandle Tea Estate produces a remarkable black tea that we feel fortunate to have discovered.

This surprising Dunsandle tea is comprised of lovely long well twisted leaves of black and gold, flecked with green, that would be the envy of many estates in the north.

Quality tea at a reasonable price

I drink tea by the mug going through a few pots of brew a day. I had a love affair with expensive Darjeelings finding them excellent but pricy and tried other teas on whim. This tea is perfect. Like the description, it has the qualities of both a fine Darjeeling and a good Assam only lighter. Goes well too by itself, no need of milk or sugar, with no astringent aftertaste. Almost as if the tea is a blend, there are layered notes. I brew the tea a tad more than three minutes and it stays up well sitting on a warmer until I'm ready to brew another pot.
